As noted previously, you have to change these four lines to eliminate all
of the xlc specific options and replace some with GCC options. So replace
these four lines:

CC_TH="${INFORMIXC=xlc_r} -qchars=signed -m64 -qlanglvl=extc99

-qcheck=nullptr -qspill=2000 "

-qalign=natural -qcheck=nullptr -qspill=2000 "

With these four lines:

CC="${INFORMIXC=gcc} -m64"
