If you don't want anything really clever then just output the report to

txt2pdf (assuming Linux).

1) Output a file in PCL format from 4GL which can include escape sequences to

control graphics.

2) Convert PCL to PDF using the respected open source tool from

www.ghostscript.com.

I4GL
Posted by: lkotur@yahoo.com (LARRY KOTUR) - Thu, 26 Jan 2017 08:58:36 EST
First my issue: We have a source code library directory with many 4gls that

are compiled into other source code to create executable files. One library

program is compiled into about 95 executable programs and every once in a

while the lib program write to error.log with an SQL error -201. This library

function when called and is passed several values from the calling function

and the error appears to be generated by erroneous data.

Question: is there a method to identify the calling function that is passing

the bad data?

Thanks,

Larry Kotur

Re: CLOB TO LVARCHAR
Posted by: art.kagel@gmail.com (Art Kagel) - Sun, 09 Oct 2016 09:15:01 EDT
You could keep the data in a CLOB and use the Basic Text Search (BTS)

datablade to index and search the CLOB.

If you still want to do the conversion the best way may be to export and

import into a new table with the lvarchar.

Ok nice. Please consider upgrading your CSDK version, then.

Best regards.

Hello, Mary.

First of all, I would strongly recommend you to install a newer Informix

client. Your Informix engine will be supported by Informix CSDK 3.70.

Since you did not Post your Informix engine release, I would recommend the

latest Informix CSDK available, that you can download from IBM Passport

Advantage website, using your IBM ID.

Also would help If you mention your Windows OS version.

After the recommended installation, reboot your Windows box, and create your

DSN through control panel. Click on the test connection, t? make sure itnis

working.

After that, If any error persist?ncia, please Post it here and we can help you

again.

Hope this helps. Best regards.

I have created a file DSN using Intersolv 3.11 32-bit Informix 9 driver. With

Ilogin works. Obviously, the Intersolv driver is working to some extent,

because I can see the tables.

Is there any way to specifically test the ODBC connection? Any suggestions on

how to troubleshoot this? Has anyone gotten Access to talk to Informix?

Thanks.

ODBC connection to MS Access
Posted by: mgreen@flyravn.com (MARY GREEN) - Tue, 27 Sep 2016 14:51:42 EDT
I am trying to connect to an Informix 11.70 database from Microsoft Access. I

have 32-bit Office 2013 and 32-bit IBM Informix Client SDK Version: 2.81.UC3.

I usually connect to my Informix databases from PowerBuilder 8.03, and have no

problems. (I know PB 8.03 is obsolete, but I have no control over that.) I

have also tested the connection using ilogin successfully.

I have created a file DSN using Intersolv 3.11 32-bit Informix 9 driver. With

this, I can connect to my database and see the tables and views, but, when I

try to retrieve, I get the following Access error: Reserved error(-7746).

The error message does not explain what it means, but an Internet search gave

the following meaning: "The Database administrative components failed to load

or initialize. Verify that the components are installed and registered

locally."

Ilogin works. Obviously, the Intersolv driver is working to some extent,

because I can see the tables.

Is there any way to specifically test the ODBC connection? Any suggestions on

how to troubleshoot this? Has anyone gotten Access to talk to Informix?

Thanks.

informix form scanning issue
Posted by: ashish.jain84@gmail.com (ASHISH JAIN) - Fri, 29 Jul 2016 14:35:25 EDT
We are stuck at one issue in informix 4gl would be very gratefull if somebody

can help. I am using the informix 7.3 version. Issue is :- we have to read one

barcode which has some kind of delimiter (010732571000136311150630214628^]301)

before 301 value. When i scan the barcode on the informix form it only shows

as (010732571000136311150630214628301) without the ^]. but if i scan it on vi

editor and then copy paste it on informix form it works? wondering why it

doesn't show when we scan directly from the Rf gun.

We have the requirement to scan the barcode and since it's not showing up the

parsing code with delimiter we are stuck.

RE: Need help on control characters in 4gl

Hello.

I just can't understand the real objective of your code.

We always call another programs via call, and values are passed along using

arg_val(num).

I think you could use a simple function, instead of a separate program, and do

whatever you need, just in case.

Hope it helps.

Regards.
