Hi,

yes, for small databases dbexport/dbimport will be the best thing.

For larger ones the suggestion
INSERT INTO new SELECT * FROM old
is very good, because you can copy tables in parallel (at least the large ones).
You can use raw-tables on the target database and change them to standard afterwards - really fast!
For index creation afterwards use PDQ.
