In Response To: SBSPACE FULL (JULIO FLORES)

Is the SBSpace the Deafult SBSpace ?

Does the SBSpace store data from more than 1 table?

What data type is being stored, BLOB, CLOB, Spatial ??

At a minimum, each SmartBlob will use 1 page ( 2 or 4 K ) depending on
page size. So 100,000 x 2 or x 4 is 200,000 or 400,000 KB at a minimum,
however, check the output of onstat -g sms s, this will give you info on
the space reserved by default for each smart blob. The output will look
something like this for each smartBlob space:-

sbnum 19 address 5c7b3760

Space : flags nchk owner sbname

-------- 1 informix xxxsbs

Defaults :

LO : ud b/pg flags flags avg s/kb max lcks

2048 0 -------- 4 -1

Ext/IO : 1st sz/p nxt sz/p min sz/p mx io sz

0 0 0 -1

HdrCache : max free

512 0

Take note of the avg, in the output above, each smart blob will have at
least 3x2K Pages (6KB) or 2x1 4K Pages allocated when a blob is stored
in this smart blob space. This value is set either when the Smart Blob
Space is created using onspaces -c -S sbSpacename -p pathToChunk -o
offset -s size -DF "AVG_LO_SIZE=4", or onspaces -ch sbSpacename -Df
"AVG_LO_SIZE=4".

If the avg size of your blobs is < 2K (which it sounds like it is) then
AVG_LO_SIZE should be set to 1 so that only 1 page (2 or 4K) will be
used per blob. If you set it to 2 ( on a 2K Page Size system) then
because of the blob page overhead Informix will allocate 2 Pages per
blob.

You can see the size of each smartBlob extent using oncheck -pe
smartBlobSpace. This is the size ( in pages ) allocated to each smart
blob. If you used onspaces -Df "AVG_LO_SIZE=N", then that will be the
minimum extent size reserved for each smart blob.

You can also, check dbschema -d database -ss and look for blob storage
specification like this:-

put blobCol in ( sbSpace ) ( extent size N )
where N = Avg KB per blob.

Unfortunately there is not a size() function which will work with all
types of smart blobs. You can download the SBInfo Blade which will work
with BLOBs and CLOBs but not other UDTs.

It's all a bit kludgey, but hope the above helps and good luck with it.

Subject: SBSPACE FULL [14899]

I have a sbspace with 50GB. I stored 100,000 and recived a message of
space
full.

I created the sbspace with 25 chunks of 2GB each, with the default
options.

this objects store only 5MB in File System. How can I calculate the
space used
for each object in my sbspace?.

The message are:

2396128 - transacciondm CR Wait -9810 -12031 9.03 Off
2396103 - transacciondm CR Wait -9810 -12031 9.03 Off

$ finderr 9810

-9810 Smart-large-object error.

An error occurred during the processing of a smart large object.

For more information, check the accompanying, detailed
smart-large-object
error code.

$ finderr 12031

-12031 Smart Large Objects: Sbspace is full.

The user data area or areas have insufficient storage for a write
request.
Delete some smart large objects or add a chunk to the sbspace.
