Client connection problem with 7.31FD7-1

Hi,

I have just tried to upgrade a Tru64 Unix 4.0G server system from IDS 7.31FC2-1 to 7.31.FD7-1 (But using 7.31FD6-1 as an intermediate step.)

{I know this version is very old, and the OS is also very old, but its all I have to work with, so no 'You really need to upgrade' messages please.}

I had to rollback to 7.31FD6-1, as my Windows 2000 server clients would not connect to the database after the upgrade, giving a -908 error.
(Using FD6 they connect fine.)
I had not changed any sqlhost settings or any other network connectivity settings on either the client or server systems. No error messages were thrown on the Unix server, and I could use dbacces on the server to query the database. Onstat output looked good.

I have a pair of Unix servers, which are clustered, the database image is on a shared SAN RAID5 drive, but the Informix software installation is held localy on system drives in each of the servers.
I upgraded one server to FD6, and 'failed over' to that server. All went well, so I then upgraded the other server to FD7 and 'failed back' onto the other server. At this point all was well from a Unix point of view, but the Win2K server clients would not complete their database connection.

I would like to get to FD7 as this fixes the CLNT_PAM_CAPABLE environment variable error message which is occasionally thrown into the message.log with FD6.

I have performed this upgrade on our reference rig, without getting this error, so I am confused as to what could be happening.
Any sensible thoughts, queries, suggestions gratefully received.
