Dostats will work with 11.50, indeed the latest release has the ability to
replace AUS if you want. The new version of dostats, dostats_ng.ec, has new
options that will permit it to run in the same mode as the AUS Evaluator run
and schedule an update run to execute the stored procedure that it outputs
sometime later, either once or periodically, if you give the stored
procedure a specific name. Alternatively, you can set up your own periodic
Update Statistics Run that executes a particular stored procedure at a given
time and then have the evaluator mode create that procedure.

The relevant new options are:

--schedule - Create a stored procedure with the commands and schedule the
procedure to run in the future.

--procedure - Create the named procedure with the UPDATE STATISTICS
commands to run. Can be used to replace a previously scheduled command
procedure, to create a new named procedure for scheduling or just to create
a procedure to be manually executed later.

--aus-thresholds - Retrieve the Auto Update Statistics settings for Aging,
Browsing (Change), and PDQPRIORITY. This allows you to continue to use OAT
to configure how update statistics is run if you are replacing AUS with
dostats_ng.

Personally, I continue to use dostats/dostats_ng at all of my client sites.
It's evaluation methods put far less stress on the engine than the AUS
Evaluator runs does in my experience and runs faster as well. At home I
used --schedule with --procedure to create a proc that runs daily and have
disabled AUS altogether. At most client sites, we continue to run dostats
or dostats_ng out of cron and have disabled all delivered tasks in the task
manager or have created a "stop file" to disable the task manager altogether
in order to eliminate the overhead of AUS and the built-in sensors and the
IO overhead they add to a system.
